Letter Fountain

This movie requires Flash Player 9

Just playing around with Actionscript 3.0 movement and animation. I figure it could be of use on those days when I don’t really feel like writing a new blog entry — just crank this baby up and let the fountain spray out a random post. Watch it long enough and I’m sure something brilliant will present itself, you know the ole’ “thousand monkeys on a thousand typewriters” thing. Source code available here. You might need the TextWithVelocity class it uses as well.

Nope, nothing brilliant has presented itself to me, and dude, i’ve watched this thing for hours. Maybe “hours” isn’t long enough.

Hello,

This is fantastic !!

I’m beginner in AS3. I would like to do the same animation. But in your source, you use TextWithVelocity and i don’t succeed to do the same classe. Can you help me ? Oh, another things, i’m in flex = )

Hi, I’ve added the TextWithVelocity class above for you. It’s an extended TextField with some added variables to hold each letter’s x and y velocity. I made some comments in it that should help you understand what’s going on. Good luck with AS3!

Once again, thank you so much.
