Hello William;

I just tried out RemoteTCP for FontLab/Robofab. It is a very nice bit of work. However, is the FontLab server supposed to be asynchronous? On my system (Mac OSX 10.5) FontLab locks up while the server us running. One of the appeals of the RoboFab Remote function is that you can keep working in FontLab while it is listening for the remote Apple events. My interest in this is that I'd like to use an AIR app to supply a modeless dialog for FontLab, so I'm tyring to figure how to communicate with FontLab using some sort of RPC, but without locking up FontLab. Any advice?

Best regards,

Hey Erik. The RemoteTCP server will indeed run without FontLab, though it will simply act as a remote Python interpreter-- processing a line of code and spitting out the result before closing the connection. I'd like to implement a NoneLab server with a web interface, so once I get some basic code together I'll share.
